The first page is a summary of your coverage.

A. Policy period. Home policies typically cover a one-year period.

B. Location of property. This shows the address of the insured property.

C. Coverages. This shows all the coverages you have as part of your homeowners insurance.

D. Deductibles. A deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket when you file a claim for a covered loss. Your policy's deductibles will be shown under each coverage.

*Covered loss is an insurance term that means a loss or damage that falls within the bands of the policy. Throughout this Made Simple section, when we refer to loss or accident, we assume it is a covered loss.
