stay in control of your privacy

Protecting people from life’s uncertainties is what we do. Our online world is growing constantly, and while the dangers keep changing, so do we. Allstate helps you stay in control with choices to manage and personalize what you share, and how it can be used.

You can find some highlights of our privacy practices below. For complete details, please read the Allstate Online Privacy Statement.

What personal information does Allstate collect?

Collected information

Often, we’ll start by asking for your name, address and phone number to provide you the policy or service you request. Then, we’ll collect additional personal information based on what we need to know about you to process your policy or service request. For example, we’ll need your driver’s license number to provide you with an auto quote. For full details, see The information we collect and how we collect it section of the Allstate Online Privacy Statement.

How it’s collected

The most common ways for us to collect personal information about you are:

  • Receiving personal information directly from you when you buy a product, set up an account, or use our service.
  • Gathering personal information such as IP address, browsing history, and other internet activity based on website or mobile app usage.
  • Collecting personal information about you from outside companies, like credit reporting agencies and marketing companies.

For full details, see The information we collect and how we collect it section of the Allstate Online Privacy Statement.

What does Allstate do with my personal information?

  • Deliver

We collect the personal information necessary to give you the products and services you want.

Example: To give you a home insurance quote, we need to have your home address on file. And to protect your car, we need your driver’s license and license plate numbers.

  • Improve

We use information – like when a customer visits the Allstate website – to conduct research and develop better products and services.

Example: Cookies help us analyze what parts of our website are visited frequently, so we can determine what’s most valuable to our customers.

  • Inform

Existing customers may receive information about products and services they may be interested in (e.g. phone protection, life insurance, etc.)

Example: If you have an auto policy, we might use your contact information to ask you about bundling your home and auto policies.

What information does Allstate share and why?

As a simple fact, we do not sell your personal information. We do share your information with:

  • Our marketing partners to show you ads relevant to you.
  • Agents and brokers that help us provide your insurance.
  • Other third parties at your direction or for other reasons explained in the Sharing your information section of the Allstate Online Privacy Statement.
