Is it your vehicle’s glass?

Before you file

Should I file a claim?

Your policy requires you to let us know if you have an incident. If you choose not to file a claim, there’s a risk that you could lose coverage for damage or injuries discovered later. And filing protects you from possible future lawsuits as well.

Is there anything I need to know before I file?

There are a few points to keep in mind:

  • If you file a claim, you’ll be responsible for paying your deductible before your insurance kicks in. Get deductible information specific to your policy at My Account.
  • Allstate will try to recover your deductible from the other driver’s insurance if you’re not at fault for the accident.
  • Your policy requires you to notify Allstate if you’re in an accident with another driver. You have the option to file through the other driver’s insurance as well.
  • Your premium, or the amount you pay for your policy, may increase after the accident. If your policy includes accident forgiveness your rates won’t be affected even if you’re found to be at fault.

What information do I need to file an auto insurance claim?

You may need the following to start your auto insurance claim:

  • Contact information for anyone involved in the accident
  • Vehicle information and insurance information for each vehicle involved
  • Photos of vehicle damage
  • Location and time of day of the accident
  • A copy of the police report
  • Names of officers that responded
