Why am I receiving this message?

To qualify for Personal Injury Protection (PIP), the state of Michigan requires confirmation of health coverage documents during policy renewals.

You selected Personal Injury Protection coverage Allowable Expenses (Medical) with a $250,000 limit, with some or all persons excluded.*

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not complete the following requirements, upon renewal, the PIP coverage limit will change for the individuals currently excluded for PIP medical coverage limit on the policy to $250,000, causing a significant increase in your premium.

Step one

Meet qualifications

  • To exclude PIP medical, the policyholder must have Qualified Health Coverage that is NOT Medicare (see FAQ for more details).
  • Each additional person* listed on the policy as excluding PIP medical must have Qualified Health Coverage.

*These people do not have coverage for Allowable Expenses (Medical).

Step two

Gather required documents

Collect and submit health coverage documentation for the individuals listed on the policy.
To continue qualifying for your selected coverage, the policyholder must acquire a letter from their health insurance carrier, employer or provide other documentation with the following information.

  1. Name of the health insurance company
  2. Name of each person covered and their date of birth
  3. Policy and group number
  4. Coverage effective dates (within the last 12 months)
  5. Confirmation that the health insurance is Qualified Health Coverage

Step three

Send requested documents to Allstate
