Employees' risk of developing breast cancer may be greater than you know. According to breastcancer.org:

  • 1 in 8 American women (about 13%) will develop breast cancer.
  • 1 in 833 American men will develop breast cancer.
  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women.
  • About 85% of cases occur in women with no family history.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about 42,000 American women die from breast cancer each year.

There are steps employers can take to help.

Encourage employees to get their recommended screenings.

According to the American College of Radiology, early detection is key, and mammography is the only test proven to reduce deaths from breast cancer. A mammogram is an X-ray that checks breast tissue for cancer and other abnormalities.

While mammogram scheduling guidelines differ, many doctors recommend that women should begin annual or biannual mammograms at age 40. Women should consult their doctor about an appropriate mammogram schedule.

Provide your employees with self-funded health coverage through Allstate Benefits

p>According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, women with health insurance are more likely to get their recommended mammograms.

Allstate Benefits provides innovative solutions that can help small- and mid-sized businesses gain control of health benefit costs and offer their employees the coverage they need to get their recommended screenings and checkups.

Through our Self-Funded Program:

You have ONE predictable monthly payment. Your monthly payment is determined upfront and guaranteed not to increase for a full year as long as there are no changes to your group's benefits or enrollment.

Plan management is handled for you. All day-to-day administration of your self-funded plan — including claim payments and customer service — is taken care of for you, so you're free to focus on your business.

Stop-loss coverage protects you. If your group's claims are higher than expected, stop-loss coverage protects your business's assets.

You may even get a refund! If your group's claims are lower than the balance in your claims account, you're refunded a portion of the difference at the end of the plan year.1 About 60% of our groups receive a refund!2

Offer your employees cancer insurance through Allstate Benefits

Cancer insurance from Allstate Benefits provides protection for the treatment of breast cancer and other types of cancer, as well as 29 specified diseases. Coverage pays a cash benefit to help pay out-of-pocket costs associated with treatment, including doctor visits, diagnosis, surgery, prosthesis, radiation/chemotherapy treatments, wigs, and other expenses. Unlike medical insurance, this coverage also pays benefits that can be used for everyday living expenses.

We also offer a wellness benefit that pays an annual benefit for many cancer screenings, like mammograms and breast ultrasounds. Each covered person is eligible for a wellness benefit once each year. Paying employees to stay on top of their health is a great way for employers to spread awareness and inspire their workforce to stay healthy.
