About Allstate Strategic Ventures
Founded in 2015, Allstate Strategic Ventures (ASV) is the corporate venture capital arm of Allstate Insurance Company, a leader in the property and casualty insurance market in the United States. We invest in entrepreneurs whose disruptive technologies — ranging from insurtech to new mobility models to deep and frontier tech — will help shape the future of the insurance industry and adjacent sectors. ASV has a long history of strategic investing and has built a world-class portfolio of companies.

Executive Vice President
Suren Gupta - Executive Vice President
Allstate Technology, Services and Ventures
Suren serves as Allstate's Executive Vice President of Allstate Technology, Services and Ventures. Under his leadership, the global technology organization has won numerous awards, including the Queen's Award for Enterprise (the United Kingdom's highest honor for business success), the Forbes CIO Innovation Award and InformationWeek's Decade Award.
Suren is a graduate of Harvard Business School's advanced management program. He also earned an MBA from George Mason University and a master's degree in computer engineering from West Virginia University. In 2019, he received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Ulster University for services to the economy of Northern Ireland, where Allstate is a major employer.
In 2015, Suren was named to the board of directors of Zions Bancorporation. He also serves on the Chicago Public Library Foundation Board and on the board of Pratham U.S.A., which supports preschool education for underprivileged children in India.
Suren is married and has two sons.
Tarik Galijasevic - Managing Director
Tarik leads the Allstate Strategic Ventures team. He started his career at JPMorgan's Investment Bank, where he focused on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and capital raises in transportation and consumer goods sectors. Since then, Tarik has executed more than 40 transactions, surpassing $30 billion in deal value. He currently focuses on venture capital investments of strategic interest to Allstate. Tarik serves on the board of directors of numerous startups. In 2019, he was named to the GCV Powerlist as one of the top 100 corporate venture capital executives globally.
A native of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tarik moved to the Chicago area in 1995 to continue his education. He holds MBAs with concentrations in entrepreneurship, finance and international business from the Illinois Institute of Technology's Stuart School of Business and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
He enjoys traveling, reading, skiing and spending time with his wife and two children.
Reese Schroeder - Investor
Reese leads deal sourcing, execution and management. Prior to joining Allstate, Reese served as managing director and co-founder of Tyson Ventures, where he led the development of one of the top food-focused corporate venture funds. He also spent 15 years as managing director for Motorola Ventures/Motorola Solutions Venture Capital. In 2016, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Global Corporate Venturing organization.
Before focusing on venture capital, Reese worked in mergers and acquisitions at Motorola for several years, including as a director in the company's Corporate Development and Strategic Transactions group and in various positions within the Networks Business unit. In addition, he served as vice president of sales and administration at a Midwest-based manufacturer of chemical transportation containers and ran his own private law practice.
He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, and is a graduate of John Marshall Law School.
Reese enjoys NFL football, music, playing frisbee with his dog and spending time with his family.

Francis Lowry - Senior Associate (Europe)
Francis primarily focuses on early stage investments in artificial intelligence and machine learning, data analytics, and new emerging technologies. He has a background in research and development, is a registered inventor on a number of U.S. patents and has founded a startup.
Francis is especially interested in technologies that protect people in the digital world and the use of artificial intelligence in improving people's lives.
Francis received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ulster University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
He enjoys spending time with his family, running and reading about history and current affairs.
Jack Statza - Senior Associate
Jack primarily focuses on early stage investments in artificial intelligence and machine learning, life and digital health, and insurtech. In 2020, he was named to the GCV Rising Stars list as one of the top 50 investors to enter the corporate venture capital industry in the past five years by the Global Corporate Venturing organization.
Prior to joining the Allstate Strategic Ventures team, he served as an investment banking associate at Lazard and at Livingstone, executing M&A transactions for healthcare and technology clients, as well as a consultant at the Northern Trust Company. Jack earned a BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MBA in Finance, Accounting and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago-Booth and is a CFA Charterholder.
He enjoys traveling, trying new foods and spending time with his wife and two children.
Josh Lumer - Senior Associate
Josh focuses on early stage investments in mobility, the internet of things and the sharing / gig economy. He’s fascinated with the role new transportation models, connected devices and economic incentives play in influencing human behavior and reshaping our physical environments.
A native of Los Angeles, Josh moved to the East Coast to study and play football at Villanova University, where he earned a BBA in Finance. Prior to joining Allstate, he served as an investment banking associate at BMO Capital Markets in New York City, executing M&A transactions and capital raises for a range of industrial clients.
Josh practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and enjoys traveling, weightlifting, snowboarding, film and photography.
Aaron Kern - Associate
Aaron focuses mainly on early stage investments in the insurtech, benefits, health and wellness, cybersecurity, and blockchain spaces. He's especially interested in the impact of emerging technologies on the quality of people's lives.
Prior to joining Allstate, Aaron was an investment banking senior analyst with Deloitte Corporate Finance (formerly McColl Partners) and helped lead Deloitte's sponsor coverage efforts. A native of North Carolina, he earned bachelor's degrees in economics and psychology from the University of South Carolina.
Aaron is an active board member for Arrive Kenya, a nonprofit serving women and children in rural Kenya. Before joining the board, he led the development of a startup alongside women in the Maasai tribe and collaborated with the Light Home of Hope orphanage in Uriri.
Aaron enjoys film, running, skiing and playing chess.
Colton Reif - Program Manager
Colton's primary focus is on internal startup engagement. Prior to joining the Allstate Strategic Ventures team, he was a member of the Allstate Claims Innovation group and led the Research and Development team.
Computer vision, autonomous vehicles and IoT are among the technologies he's most excited about.
Colton earned his bachelor's degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Miami University in Ohio.
He enjoys restoring his classic car and spending time with family.
