Roadside assistance is a set of services that can help when you have car trouble on the side of the road, in a parking lot, at work or even at home. If you're stranded, a roadside assistance plan can help with services like changing a flat tire, jump-starting a dead battery or towing your vehicle to a repair shop.

Some roadside assistance plans offer additional benefits that may help if your car breaks down on a long-distance road trip (see "Get More with membership plans" below).

You can get roadside assistance in three different ways:

1. Add roadside coverage to your auto insurance policy
2. Purchase a roadside membership
3. Pay per use in your time of need

Each option has different benefit limits, features, and prices, but all three options come with Allstate's award-winning rescue technology and the only crowd-sourced rescue network in the industry — resulting in faster rescues for our customers.

Roadside assistance typically covers basic tasks that can get your car back on the road if you're stranded.

These services include:

• Towing your car if it's had a mechanical breakdown or can't be driven
• Unlocking your car if you're locked out
• Delivering fuel if you run out of gas*
• Jump-starting your car if your battery is out of power
• Changing a flat tire, including putting on your spare

Get More with Membership Plans

A membership plan offers additional benefits to help if your car breaks down on a long-distance drive:

• Road hazard benefit
• Trip interruption benefit to help pay for unexpected costs
• Higher towing reimbursement limits ($250 with the Roadside Elite membership plan) to help ensure you're able to tow your car to a desired location.

You can access and use Allstate's roadside assistance services through the Allstate Mobile app for Android and iPhone. There, you can get immediate help whether you have roadside coverage on your auto policy, membership with Allstate Motor Club, or want pay-per-use towing or other services. Just open the Allstate Mobile app and tap on roadside assistance.

You can also request roadside assistance via phone at 1-800-ALLSTATE and select roadside assistance from the menu.

You can use roadside assistance if your car isn't running and you need a tow, you've locked your keys in your car, have a flat tire, dead battery, or run out of gas*.

Roadside coverage on your auto policy and a membership plan allows you to pay an annual fee for a certain benefit limit that you can use throughout the year on roadside assistance. Pay-per-use roadside assistance means that you pay a fee every time you request assistance.

The cost of roadside assistance depends on which type of Allstate roadside service package you use.

• Adding basic roadside assistance to your auto insurance policy: About $25 per year, per car
• Becoming a member: $100-$185 per year, for all vehicles in your household, with additional features and higher benefit limits (cost depends on the level of benefits you choose)

• Paying at the time of need: $119 for a 5-mile tow, and $4.25 per mile over 5 miles. Other services, such as a fuel delivery* or jump start, cost $79 per use. Tire changes are $84.

Having roadside assistance may help give you peace of mind if you're worried about being stranded after your car breaks down.

Many of our customers prefer to proactively add roadside assistance protection to their car insurance policy, or become a member. With these types of plans, you don't have to worry about changing a flat tire or getting a jump-start if you're stranded with car trouble. When you use our network of rescue providers, your membership covers service fees, so you don't have to pay extra.

Other customers choose to leverage our pay-per-use option, so they can get the benefits of our technology and provider network, but only pay when they need roadside assistance.
