The Allstate NI Belfast Charities Committee ran a number of events during this year's Stand Up to Cancer Week which ran from 13-17 October. The main aim of the week was to raise awareness among employees through talks and information sessions given by professionals from Cancer Research, Prostate Cancer, Macmillan and Cancer Focus.
Cancer Focus also sent along their 'Keeping Well' van which allowed employees to receive a free 30 minute health check. One employee said,
"Men are notorious for not attending the doctor. Bringing the van to the Allstate NI Belfast office is a great way to overcome this. Credit to the Charities Committee for organizing and I hope this is something which happens again in future."
A number of teams held cake sales during the week, carried out bucket collections, filled smarties tubes with 20ps and four brave employees even took on the ice bucket challenge raising in total over £2,000 for all four cancer charities.
Many thanks to everyone who helped raise money or contributed to the activities over the course of the week.
