On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week [week commencing 22 September 2014], Allstate NI employees across all three sites took part in the Environmental Committee's Project Green 2014.
The aim of the Project Green campaign was to encourage employees to 'Go Green' and be more environmentally conscious in the home. Working in conjunction with Sodexo, employees were given advice on how to improve their recycling habits, reduce their food waste and reduce their utility bills.
As part of the Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW) campaign, Chefs from Sodexo gave live food demos in the Belfast office in order to educate employees on how to use food leftovers more efficiently. They also handed out free LFHW recipe cards and ran a ballot for charity with the lucky winner receiving a hamper full of fresh, organic produce.
A number of local companies visited all three offices over the course of the three days to provide information on sustainability and these included: NI Water, Business in the Community, the Consumer Council, McConvey Cycles and Halfords. Coffee Aspretto, the Organic Food Company and Mash Direct also provided a wealth of free food and coffee for staff which was very much appreciated.
Over the three days, many employees pledged to 'Go Green' and act more responsibly in the home to help save our environment.
