Allstate employee recognized for commitment to Radio Cracker, Ballymena.
Allstate NI is proud to announce Neil Jordan of our Belfast office, as the Allstate Northern Ireland Outstanding Employee Volunteer for 2014. Selected out of almost 200 nominations, Neil was chosen for his efforts working with a charity radio station whose sole aim is to relieve poverty around the world.
Radio Cracker is a charity Radio Station that broadcasts for 4 weeks each year prior to Christmas raising money for recognised relief agencies for various projects throughout the developing world and in the past 22 years has raised £1.4 million ($2.2 million).
Neil has been involved for the past 5 years and was elected to the post of Technical Director this year.
Neil is responsible for ensuring that the studio is technically ready for broadcast and spent many hours with the other members of the technical team configuring and wiring new equipment this past year.
Neil is also responsible for recording and scheduling adverts which make up around a third of the money raised each year.
"I really enjoy my work with Radio Cracker. It really appeals to my inner geek and there is a real variety of tasks to be performed. One night could see me lying on the floor wiring up computers and various pieces of equipment and the next could see me at the top of a 15ft ladder fixing speakers to a lamppost! Radio Cracker is like a big family, everyone mucks in as much as they can and we all have a great laugh."
Each year, Allstate honors 18 employees with its Outstanding Employee Volunteer Award. The honor is open to all of Allstate's more than 30,000 employees who truly embody the spirit of giving back to the communities in which they live and work.
As winner of the Allstate Northern Ireland award, Neil receives a $1,000 donation from Allstate to the local nonprofit of his choice. Neil is directing his award to Radio Cracker.
An Allstate employee for over 10 years, Neil has worked in the security area for most of this time and is now a senior consultant within the Archer development team. Neil is a graduate of Queen's University, Belfast.
Allstate awarded more than 450 grants last year to nonprofit organizations where employees volunteer as a part of its Helping Hands Recognition Program. In 2014, The Allstate Foundation granted nearly $230,000 to nonprofit organizations across the country where Allstate employees delivered more than 100,000 hours of volunteer service.
