Detailed List of Data Drivewise Collects

Welcome to Drivewise, a program that rewards your everyday safe driving! You can participate by downloading the Allstate® mobile app and activating Drivewise. Once activated, the app will collect the following trip information. Your savings are determined by the items noted with an asterisk (*). View your progress and rewards through Allstate Mobile and My Account. The app also collects a few additional items and we want to make you aware of everything that we collect from the app. This information is collected directly from the app using your mobile phone carrier's data network.

Trip Report:
This information is sent once per trip (a trip starts when a speed threshold is met and ends when no driving motion is detected after 6 minutes).

  • Timestamp in local time zone at trip start and trip end
  • Timestamp for when a trip is uploaded
  • Network time from the mobile phone when the trip is uploaded
  • Start location (latitude and longitude)
  • End location (latitude and longitude)
  • Average speed while in motion (not including 0 mph)
  • Maximum speed
  • Distance
  • Duration
  • Idle time
  • Miles driven above 80 mph*
  • Miles driven in each time range (time range is shared with each driver in app)*
  • Count of occurrences braking in 1 mph/s bands from 7-10 mph/s, 10.1-17.0 mph/s and over 17.0 mph/s*
  • Count of occurrences accelerating in 1 mph/s bands from 7-10 mph/s, 10.1-17.0 mph/s and over 17.0 mph/s
  • Count of events where events are included for braking, speeding, acceleration and cornering
  • Details for each event collected including type of event, duration, start and end locations, start and end times, speed, speed change, miles driven, method of detecting the event and GPS signal strength
  • Count of successive acceleration and deceleration
  • Count of excessive speed changes
  • Reason for trip termination (including reasons such as low battery, user closed the app, motion is no longer detected)

Mobile software version: Each trip indicates what Operating System was used to collect it.

Mobile Device: Each trip indicates what type of mobile phone was used to collect it.

Allstate® mobile app version: Each trip indicates what version of the Allstate mobile app was used to collect it.

Trip rejection reason: If a trip is removed from driving history, a rejection code selected by the driver is sent back. Trips with illogical data (such as those which may be collected from an airplane) will automatically be removed from the app using an illogical data rejection code.

GPS trail: Analyzed every second persisted every 30 meters and includes GPS time, GPS position, GPS speed and GPS accuracy.

Braking Event*: Hard Braking Events are defined as slowing down between 8 mph and 10 mph over a 1 second time interval. Extreme Braking Events are defined as slowing down 10 or more miles per hour over a 1 second time interval. A braking event is identified as accelerometer braking event or GPS braking event.

Acceleration Event: Increases in vehicle speed greater than 8 mph per second as identified by accelerometer or GPS.

High Speed Event*: Vehicle speed exceeds 80 mph. Each instance where the 80 mph threshold is exceeded is counted as an event.

ECC Monitor: OK
