Our Response to COVID-19

Allstate® is here to help

woman on a headset.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, Allstate is here to help our customers and communities cope. From paying back $1 billion to our customers through our Allstate Shelter-in-Place Payback, to contributing millions of dollars to a variety of community relief and recovery efforts, Allstate is committed to helping you through this challenging time. Just like we've been doing for 89 years.

Here are a few of the steps we've taken in our day-to-day operations:

  • We're encouraging customers to use the Allstate mobile app to view policy information, start a claim, provide proof of insurance or request 24/7 roadside assistance.
  • For customers who want to reach out to a local agent, office staff is available by phone during normal business hours. Those who are working at offices are using social distancing practices.
  • All Allstate employees who can work remotely have been directed to do so. These changes may result in fewer team members being available at times to answer calls. As a result, 1-800-ALLSTATE hold times may be longer than normal.

  • Local Communities: The Allstate Foundation will distribute $2 million in the communities where Allstate has the largest employee presence — greater Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas and Phoenix, as well as across Illinois.
  • Domestic Violence Victims: As one of the most vulnerable populations, victims of domestic violence are especially at risk if they are sheltering in place with their abusers. The Allstate Foundation has partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) for over 15 years and is contributing $500,000 to help NNEDV support more than 100 local domestic violence organizations. Earlier this month, the Foundation also provided funding for the National Domestic Violence Hotline to enable remote-working technology.
  • Youth in Need: As youth across the country are at home indefinitely and potentially experiencing anxiety and uncertainty, The Allstate Foundation helped make Inner Explorer's audio-guided mindfulness program available to families everywhere for free. The Allstate Foundation also provided the National Runaway Safeline with technology resources for remote counselors to help at-risk youth.
  • First Responders: As they risk their lives on the front lines, The Allstate Foundation will provide $1 million in support of first responders.
  • Employees and the Agency Force: The Allstate Foundation will match Allstate employee and agency force donations dollar for dollar, doubling their contributions and adding $1.4 million to the program, for a total of $2.8 million in matching funds1. Allstaters are also encouraged to participate in virtual volunteer efforts, with numerous nonprofits providing opportunities such as virtually mentoring youth and advocating for national emergency relief organizations.
  • Tips to Help Parents and Kids Cope: The Allstate Foundation empowers young people — and those that guide and teach them — with social emotional learning (SEL) opportunities to help them lead successful lives. These skills — like stress-management, communication and resiliency — are more important than ever, as kids face disruption and uncertainty in the face of the current COVID-19 situation.
