The Allstate Foundation Teen Driving Program:
Changing the World of Driving
The Allstate Foundation launched a comprehensive teen driving program in 2005 to develop innovative, research-based approaches for reducing the number of teens killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes each year.
The goal of the program is to make smart driving socially acceptable to teens. The Foundation's original research, supported by advice from national experts, suggests the best way to promote smart driving among teens is to take a positive approach to the issue, celebrate teens' driving experiences and, surround teens with smart driving messages delivered by the people who touch teens' lives directly and indirectly.
The Foundation's program includes the following components:
  • “Keep the Drive,” a national teen-to-teen smart driving movement to change the way teens think and act as a driver or passenger. Keep the Drive educates teens about the issue and empowers them to become smart driving activists in their schools and communities. For more information, visit www.KeeptheDrive.com
  • Community outreach to involve key teen influencers (parents, teachers, physicians, etc.) in delivering smart driving messages to teens.
  • Thought leadership and advocacy to increase public understanding of the teen driving issue and inform public policy decision-makers.
  • Public awareness to elevate teen driving as a serious public health issue like smoking, drinking, drug abuse and other risky teen behaviors.
