Inclusive Diversity
At Allstate, we believe diversity is critical to meeting the needs of the diverse customers we serve. With support from The Allstate Corporation Board of Directors, Allstate transformed its tradition of encouraging diversity into a core business strategy. The strategy is set and guided by the Executive Diversity Council and implemented by our Chief Diversity Officer, with various elements fully integrated into our company’s processes. In 2007, we updated Allstate’s definition of diversity:
At Allstate, we define inclusive diversity as the collective mixture of “all” of our differences and similarities in our workforce, workplace and marketplace. We respect inclusive diversity as one of our core values. It defines who we are and what we believe in, holding each other personally and professionally accountable to welcome all as we strive to win in a diverse, global marketplace and accepting nothing less.
Inclusive diversity is a pillar of Our Shared Vision, which was developed and began rolling out to employees in 2007. As a result of these efforts, Allstate is bringing a broader range of perspectives to our team, providing new opportunities for diverse and small businesses, and serving customers better.

Allstate is perennially recognized by leading publications, industry and professional associations for excellence in diversity. Over the years, we have been honored by more than 45 media publications and associations that monitor diversity and workplace issues. Our approach to inclusive diversity means we value the contributions of everyone—all races, genders, backgrounds and sexual orientations. Allstate’s fair and equitable treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees, consumers and investors was recognized in 2007 by the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, which gave us a perfect score. In particular, we were recognized for: our nondiscrimination policy, which covers sexual orientation and gender identity; diversity training, which covers GLBT issues; and the benefits we provide to domestic partners.
