Reporting Framework
Allstate is serious about communicating the impact of its business on the communities in which it operates.
We were one of the first U.S. insurance and financial services companies to publish an annual Social Responsibility report, and we have published an updated version every year since 2003. Allstate considers social responsibility reporting to be a good business practice, as well as a way to demonstrate our values at work. The more clearly we identify our role and impact in our communities, the more we believe we'll strengthen our reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. As an organization dedicated to reaching and protecting millions of consumers, what we stand for as an organization makes a difference. Through comprehensive reporting and open dialogue, we want to provide as many reasons as possible for consumers, shareholders and investors to believe in and choose Allstate.
Our reporting focuses on those select, ongoing activities that we consider important to our business and stakeholders - broadly defined as our customers, associates (including Allstate employees, agency owners and agency staff), shareholders and communities at large. "Allstate" refers to "The Allstate Corporation" and the operations of its subsidiaries within the United States, unless otherwise noted. Explore this section to understand how the report comes together and the reasons behind it.
Our Approach
We consider transparency essential to corporate social responsibility reporting. As we continue to evolve our reporting efforts, we will use the principles developed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the world's most widely used sustainability reporting framework, as our guide. We are continuing to evolve our reporting to become more GRI-centric.
Consistent with our
corporate governance
principles and commitment to transparency, our approach is to report social responsibility performance across three dimensions, with supporting subjects as indicated below:
