Business Areas at Allstate Northern Ireland:

Allstate Financial Technology

Allstate Financial offers life insurance and retirement products to customers in the US wishing to save for a comfortable future. The technology teams in Northern Ireland support and enhance the IT systems that provide a diverse range of business functions such as policy administration, an agent portal and tools to support the sales and servicing of policies. We are involved in a wide variety of roles such as analysis, design, build, test, and project management. The main technologies used are .Net 4.5 (Web Forms and MVC), Sql Server, C++, COBOL, Java and Tibco.

Product Operations

The area supports the Policy Administration application for Allstate personal lines of business. This includes a web based front end application, Alliance, utilised by Allstate Agents and Customer Services personnel. Also supported is the backend system required to administer policies. The main technologies used are Cobol & Visual Age, JAVA, .Net and C#.

Business 2 Business Technology (new business technology)

This area comprises a collection of distinct Allstate Businesses including:

  • Northlight Speciality Insurance Company
  • Allstate Canada

Allstate Business Insurance (ABI) - Insures small businesses with a target market representing over $37 billion in premium, including roughly 10% of Allstate's 17 million households.

Allstate Roadside Services (ARS- As well as offering a variety of insurance products to US home/auto/motorbike (etc) owners, Allstate offers roadside services (similar to what the AA or the RAC would offer here). Allstate Roadside Services is one of the main providers of roadside services in the US and its market share is continuously growing through partnerships with many of the well-known car manufacturers like General Motors, BMW, VW, Porsche & Audi—who offer the ARS services as part of a new car purchase. The Allstate NI team provides business intelligence, web development & testing capabilities to ARS, in what is a highly nimble and ever-changing business environment..

Encompass - Allstate NI supports several data warehouses / data marts within Encompass—an Allstate Business that provides insurance to owners of high value homes. The Allstate NI team provides a variety of key skillsets including business intelligence & ETL.

North Light Specialty Insurance Company - is an Allstate Business that provides insurance to owners of high-value, high risk homes including those located in areas prone to coastal flooding or hurricanes. The Allstate NI team has provided all the development & testing support for this relatively new Allstate business since its inception in 2009. The business achieved growth of 40-60% in the last two years, with continuing growth projected for 2014.

Allstate Canada - Allstate Northern Ireland provides support to our Allstate Canada partners in several different technology and business areas; ranging from claims, new business and endorsements to infastructure support, direct sales and web presence. The work undertaken by staff within the Northern Ireland office is crucial to the day to day operations of Allstate Canada's information technology and technical services areas. There are five distinct teams within Allstate Northern Ireland that are spread across three different Northern Ireland sites (Derry, Belfast and Strabane); the team members within these sites supplement teams within Allstate Canada. The main technologies used are Teamsite, ASP.Net, SQL Server and Javascript.p>

Claims Technology Services

The Claim Technology Services (CTS) delivery organization partners with and supports the Claims Business Organization, the truly customer facing group within Allstate. As part of the ATO family, CTS operates at the cutting edge of technology integrating the new (.Net, Tibco, Web Services, UX) with legacy applications (COBOL, Assembler, Batch). Increasingly CTS has been tasked with offering the customer choice in how they choose to claim, whether it be through an Agent, a call centre or online. With such variation, the opportunity to learn a broad range of skills is vast. As Technology advances relentlessly so CTS must adapt and react making the area an exciting and dynamic place to work.

Operations

Operations provides a wide range of services including: Technical Support Contact Centre, Transactional Processing, Security Administration, Trending and Analytics, Knowledge Management and Content Publishing.

The primarily focus is on contact center support for the resolution of hardware and software issues for Allstate employees, Allstate Agents and support staff.

Information Services

This area houses Allstate's network and infrastructure services which include storage, voice and platform services, as well as related tools support. The main technologies used are .net; java; TIBCO whilst supporting a variety of tools such as:

  • TFS
  • MS Visual Studio
  • All office tools and their infrastructure —Blackberry Enterprise Server; Exchange Servers.
  • Middleware tools including Access Management tools (TAM)
  • Transfer tools such as XCOM
  • The integrations platform support

Information Security Group

This group is made up of 3 main areas:

  • Database Administration (DBA)
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A)
  • Integrated Customer Services (ICS)

The DBA team is responsible for supporting all enterprise wide DB needs on the Oracle (UNIX, Linux), SQL Server (Windows), DB2 (AS/400, Mainframe) and IMS (Mainframe) platforms The wide range of work performed by the team includes.

Enterprise Shared Services

ESS—Enterprise Shared Services: This is a small footprint in ANI however nevertheless important. In this organization we ensure Allstate Agents get their correct bonuses and compensation and also have responsibility in the financial process. We also look after other systems that support employees like Taleo and some timekeeping systems. The technologies used go from .NET, Mobile, TIBCO, Mainframe, HP Exstream, etc.

Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience

Sales Marketing and Customer Experience: The SMCE team provide technology leadership, development and support for many applications that are utilized by the customers and agencies in support of sales, marketing and customer experience. These applications cover a wide range of technologies and include applications like Billing, My Account (a customer care web application), Mobile, TIBCO, Agency web tools, Customer Communications and many more. The technologies used include .NET, Mobile, TIBCO, Mainframe, HP Exstream, etc. It is a diverse and dynamic area in a fast paced environment.

Delivery and Risk Management

This comprises a variety of roles including Architecture, Project Management Office, Release Management, Security and Testing. The Testing area has undergone a major transformation which resulted in the creation of a Global Testing Organisation, including a new operating model encompassing three types of services:

Strategic Services - Partner with the functional testing managers to gather their requirements for staffing testing teams in Allstate Solutions Private Ltd, India (ASPL) and manage the overall effort, identifying a phased and scalable approach, documenting the project plan, identifying contingencies, dependencies, issues and risks in addition to providing regular status reporting and communication.

Shared Services - The Release and Quality Services team provides critical functions, services and standards within Test, Release Management and Quality across ATO and our business partner organizations to ensure we deliver enterprise services in an effective and consistent manner.

Testing Execution Services - Enterprise testing teams in Allstate North America, Allstate Northern Ireland, Allstate Solutions Private Ltd India and onshore/offshore vendor resources deliver change-based testing services across all supported business partner organizations/

Quantitative Research & Analytics

QRA uses mathematical, statistical, and machine-learning techniques to assist in the research and development of pricing and economic models, data-visualization apps, and decision-making tools. We build products and knowledge to help business leaders, agents, and customers make better, data-driven decisions.
