Allstate NI Gives Big in 2012

In 2012 the charities committees across the 3 Allstate NI offices raised over £60,000 for good causes all over NI.

The Allstate NI Belfast Charities Committee recently presented cheques to the 4 chosen charities of 2012. Macmillan Cancer Support, NI Chest Heart & Stroke, The Simon Community and NI Cancer Fund for Children each received £8,500 raised through employee donations and various fund raising activities held throughout 2012.

Over £9,000 was raised through Allstate NI's annual 'Big Prize Draw' whilst £20,000 was donated through our employee's generous unallocated Give As You Earn (GAYE) contributions. Other various activities throughout the year also helped raise funds including Recognition Day and the annual beard growing contest.

In the Northland Office, a total of £10,500 was raised through the annual draw and GAYE which was then divided equally among 14 local charities including Foyle Hopsice, Help the Aged, Cancer Research, Jack and Jill Community Playgroup, NI Children's Hospice, MS Society Foyle and Age NI.

The Charity Committee are also approached throughout the year from various organisations for fund raising activities, not to mention coffee mornings raising a combined total of £776. Other activities included a brave team abseiling down the city hotel raising £610 for Special Olympics and the 2 employees who grew beards for 'Movember' raising £403 for Prostate Cancer UK. In November 2012 through the 'Diwali Festival of light' celebrations, the charities committee raised £260 for Action with Effect. This particular event was a great exchange of cultures between India and Northern Ireland.

The Strabane charities committee had one of most successful years ever in 2012, raising an amazing £12,809 for various charities in the local area. All supported charities were recommended, and selected by employees in the Strabane location. Fundraising activities were held for 14 different charities during the year including Clic Sargent, Northern Ireland Chest Heart And Stroke, Foyle Search And Rescue, Arvalee School, Good Morning Strabane, St Vincent de Paul, Foyle Hospice and Sperrin Cancer Unit.

One of Strabane's bumper events was for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke -a full day event that included a sponsored walk and family fun day topped off with a music night. Some other events of note throughout the year include a sponsored walk, car wash, Toys for Tots appeal, Dress Down days and an Easter Egg Collection.

All committees wish to extend their thanks for the support over the last year from employees and volunteers who have helped to contribute so much for those in need.
