Overview

Allstate is on a mission to become the most data-driven insurance company in the world, and we are inviting you to join us on this journey! !

Each summer, Allstate NI offer a limited number of Data Science Internships where over half of the time is spent in Chicago. These Internships are a great way to kick-start your career by having meaningful work experience, being part of a dynamic team within a great environment, adding international work history to your CV and making some good friends along the way! We wish to extend this excellent opportunity to a number of students in 2014.

As an Allstate Data Science Intern you'll be tasked with combining your creativity and analytical skills to solve some of the most complex problems in the US insurance market. This role provides a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of modelling techniques within a leading edge environment, creating the tools that enable Allstate to be the best insurance company in the industry.

About

The role of the Data Science Team is to build actionable predictive models to increase customer satisfaction, policy growth and retention, and reduce loss experience and fraud. Previous summer interns have followed a structured program, completing a 4-week training project within the Belfast office, typically centred on predicting customer losses.

On completion of the training project, interns head for Allstate's corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois—30 minutes' drive from downtown Chicago, to commence work on an extended 8-week project. These projects can cover a range of topics including estimating losses, simulating customer demand and predicting claims fraud.

The conversion rate from internship to permanent positions in Belfast office is very high with the majority of previous interns successfully obtaining full-time jobs, so this really is an opportunity not to be missed.
