RV insurance may be included in existing auto insurance policies
Just as a driver's existing auto insurance may provide coverage for a rental car, the same policy may also provide for a recreational vehicle.
According to a recent report from Florida's Sun Sentinel, RV insurance may be included in rental costs. However, Steven Cole Smith, an automotive columnist for the paper, said consumers should check what they may already be paying for.
"While insurance is available at a reasonable cost from the renter, you may already have coverage on your own policies," Smith wrote.
The same goes for auto insurance for rental cars. While businesses may offer additional protection, consumers are often already taken care of with their current car policy. Furthermore, credit card providers may also supply coverage for a borrowed vehicle.
Consumers should also ensure they can handle an RV. Smith noted it could take some time to get used to driving a larger vehicle, which is why it may make sense to get it a day or two early for some practice.
