Tips for Efficient Completion of The Allstate Foundation Grant Application

Funding Guidelines

We suggest that you follow these steps in order to most efficiently complete a grant application:

Pre-Application Suggestions:

  • Carefully review program guidelines and application forms prior to clicking on application link. See Reference Information below to print the appropriate application form.
  • Eligibility questions will need to be completed prior to accessing the applications to ensure your organization is eligible to submit an application. You must create a user account before accessing the eligibility questions.
  • Ensure you are using the appropriate links for either 501(c)3 organizations or Municipalities (Governmental Entities: City, State and Federal) for the correct application form. If you have completed the incorrect form, the application may not be accepted and/or need to be resubmitted.
    • 501(c)3 organizations will be required in the initial steps to submit a valid tax exempt EIN (Employee Identification Number) before answering the eligibility questions.
    • Municipalities (Governmental Entities: City, State and Federal) will be required to upload supporting documentation to verify that the organization is a governmental entity.

Creating a User Account:

  • When you click on the application link you will be prompted to set up a user account and password. After you set up an account, you will receive an automated email with a link confirming the user account and password. Save this email to refer to the information upon returning to an existing application.
  • You (and any of your colleagues working on the application) will need this user name and password to return to your partially completed application.
  • The link to submit a new application is NOT the same as the one needed to return to an existing application that has not yet been submitted. Click here to return to the My Account Login Web site.

Completing the Application:

  • Review the specific questions and documents requested in the application and collect the requested information please scroll through the application prior to filling out the data fields.
  • You may find it useful to use a word processor to draft certain elements of your application and then cut and paste the text on to the online application.
  • As you are filling out the online application, we suggest saving regularly during the process. There is a button at the bottom of each page in the application permitting you to save.
  • Do NOT use your browser's Back button while filling out the application - you will lose all unsaved data.
  • You may stop working on your application before it is complete and return to it at a later time (using the user name and password). Click here to return to the My Account Login Web site.
  • Once an application is submitted, you cannot add, modify or delete the application or any part of it through the online system.
  • Complete the application by attaching the documents (Board of Directors List, Detailed Project Budget, List of Funding Sources and Audited Financial Statements) specified on the last page of the application. Please note that you must "Upload" each document separately to properly attach the documents to your application.
  • You will have an opportunity to review and print a Printer Friendly Version of your application prior to submitting it. The Allstate Foundation staff will see your application only after you click the "Submit" button.
  • If you find that you need to make an important change to an application after you have submitted it, please contact The Allstate Foundation at Grants@Allstate.com with the updated application information.
  • We may contact you upon receipt of your application to request additional supporting documents or additional information.
