Allstate's Annual Give Back Day
Give Back Day celebrates the legacy and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by encouraging individuals to follow his examples of giving back to the community.
For the past two years Allstate has been hosting and organizing Give Back Day events nationwide where employees, Allstate agents and the community come together to volunteer and a make difference.
Give Back Day 2010 proved to be even more successful than last year with more volunteers and events. In addition,. Allstate designated four individuals as the inaugural Allstate Give Back Day Heroes. Each individual demonstrated an ongoing commitment to making positive contributions in their communities through volunteering their time and effort to important causes and inspiring others to do the same. As part of their recognition, they attend the King Center's Salute to Greatness Awards Banquet with Allstate Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Wilson.
Annually, the Salute to Greatness Award honors one individual and one company for their dedication to Dr. King's principles and philosophy. This year, Allstate was honored to accept the award for ongoing support of the community. To learn more about the Salute to Greatness Award, visit thekingcenter.org.
Mark your calendars now for Give Back Day 2011 -Monday, January 17, 2011. More details to come.
Quotes for Education
African-American college students are dropping out of school, and it's not because of their grades. These tough economic times have impacted all of our lives. Historically Black Colleges and Universities have suffered hardships, and in turn, so have their students. Many of the students are being forced to cut their education short because they don't have the money for tuition.
That's why Allstate created Quotes for Education, a. program designed to help college students realize their educational goals. During September 2009, Allstate donated $5 for every auto quote we received through beyondfebruary.com to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund®. Thanks to participation by consumers like you, Allstate donated $50,000 to help financially needy students in 2009.
