How can I save money on my Allstate insurance premium?

Allstate recognizes multiple policy, safety conscious and claim-free customers with premium discounts. Depending on your home, situation and state, you may be eligible for one or more of the property insurance discounts we offer. Contact your Allstate agent, call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) or read "What About Discounts and Savings?" for more information. Discounts are subject to availability and qualifications. Other terms, conditions and exclusions may apply.

Who do I contact if I plan to move?

Contact your Allstate agent or call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) to discuss your change of address and change of residence.

What type of coverage should I carry on homeowners insurance?

The type of coverage you need depends on your unique situation. Contact your Allstate agent, or call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) to determine what best fits your situation.

I'm selling my home but plan to rent now. Do I still need insurance?

Yes. Renters insurance is affordable and protects your personal interests.

I'm purchasing a condo. Do I just purchase traditional homeowners insurance?

A condo is unique because you have both common and individual insurance needs. Be sure to find out if your condominium association has insurance for common areas. However, you're still responsible for insuring your personal property, yourself from liability and your guest's medical protection, among others.

Does Allstate insure mobile homes?

Yes. Mobile homeowners should look at their insurance options as well.

How much will insurance for my home cost?

Homeowners insurance costs vary greatly. It depends on factors such as home value, size, age, location, construction type, and the coverage limits and deductibles you choose. Contact your Allstate agent or call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) to address your individual needs.

How do I get homeowners insurance?

Contact your Allstate agent or call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) to start the process. As soon as your application for insurance is approved, your coverage will begin.

I just decided to buy a house. Why do I need homeowners insurance?

Homeowners insurance plays an important role in the protection of your home, and one full year's premium is usually required by mortgage lenders before your loan can be processed. If you want to buy a house, you usually have to get insurance first.

Remember, as the date of your real estate closing approaches, the number of details you must contend with multiplies. Make it easier on yourself when it's time to close by preparing in advance.

What happens if something is damaged during the move? Does my homeowners insurance cover it?

Under most Allstate homeowners policies, if the loss or damage is caused by a named peril under "Losses We Cover" under Coverage C — Personal Property, you would likely be covered. However, you might want to consider purchasing additional coverage through the vendor moving your personal property.

If you elect to file a claim against your homeowners policy, all policy conditions – including limits and the deductible – will apply to the loss. Please contact your Allstate agent or call 1-800-ALLSTATE® (1-800-255-7828) for additional information.

If a moving company is taking my car, do I have to purchase additional insurance?

Your vehicle is covered under your auto policy, not your homeowners policy. You should contact your Allstate agent to make sure you have the proper insurance coverage on your vehicle prior to the move. You might also consider purchasing additional coverage with the company transporting your vehicle.

When is the right time to change my homeowners insurance to my new address?

In most instances, proof of insurance on the property is required prior to or at closing when purchasing a new home. Your Allstate agent should be contacted prior to the closing date.

If I sold my home and have not bought a new home yet, when should I cancel my coverage?

Your Allstate agent should be notified of the insured property's sale as soon as possible. The policy will remain in force until the sale of the property is complete.
