What Has Allstate Done in our Local Community?

Allstate has been a sponsor of the Southern Heritage Classic for the past 7 years, but has been involved through employees and agents in various aspects of the event since its inception in 1990. The SHC is one of the largest classics played between predominantly African American schools and provides an economic boost for the participating cities while providing personal growth and development through various seminars and workshops. This is an annual weekend event held in Memphis and includes a football game between Tennessee State University and Jackson State University played at the Liberty Bowl, a golf classic, concerts, business seminars and workshops, and various hosted luncheons and receptions.

The Southern Region provided support for the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. This organization sponsors an annual Celebration of Women to honor women who have touched our lives. Their goal is to enhance the prospects and possibilities for mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, mentors, business partners, valued employees and others who have contributed to the fiber of our community. The group prominently features female managers from the Southern Region.

The Southern Region of Allstate working in partnership with the Injury Free Coalition for Kids has built 8 playgrounds since 2005.  (Lexington, KY – 2; Little Rock, AR – 2; Biloxi, MS – 2;  Ocean Springs, MS – 1; New Orleans, LA – 1).

The Southern Region partnered with Be in the Click, a school-based safety program designed to increase the use of seat belts among teenage drivers and passengers. It is also a community service project promoting seat belt use for all age groups. The desired outcome is to prevent motor vehicle accident deaths and injuries caused by not wearing seat belts.

How About Local Volunteerism Efforts?
Each year, employees in Jackson, Mississippi, partner with the Mississippi Association of Partners in Education. Because of Allstate's volunteerism in the area, the organization implemented an Allstate Good Hands Award. The award is given annually to an outstanding business/school partnership in the state of Mississippi.

Allstate was well represented in the telethon to raise funds for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Our Allstate team raised a total of $4,309, of which $1,000 was made up of contributions from Allstate employees. The Allstate team raised the most of any team represented.

School supply drives took place throughout the region. The supplies were donated by employees and presented to local Project Pencil Partner schools.
