*Organizations qualifying under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3) include organizations operated exclusively for religious or charitable purposes and whose earnings do not benefit any private shareholder or individual, no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation, and which does not participate in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office. Examples include:
- A publicly supported organization, such as: Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity
- Federal, state and local governments or governmental units, such as: police departments, fire departments (volunteer fire departments are not included), public schools, the Peace Corps, etc., for exclusively public purposes

Economic empowerment. The Allstate Foundation believes a thriving, viable community is one where residents have access to economic resources and knowledge to make informed decisions about their financial future.
Tolerance, inclusion and diversity. The Allstate Foundation believes that a strong community is one that recognizes and values people of varied backgrounds, including ethnicity, gender, physical challenges, age and lifestyle.
My program does not fit into any of the above focus areas

Proposal Guidelines
3) Your proposal must contain the following information:
- A cover letter with the organization's name, street address (not post office box), phone number and contact person
- A summary of the grant request
- Brief description of how the proposed program or project relates to the current focus areas of The Allstate Foundation
- A timetable for project implementation
- Brief statement of the organization's history, mission, goals, service area and constituents
- An operating budget for the past year, indicating percentages used for program, administrative, fundraising and general expenses
- Budget for proposed project, including sources of financial support and grants committed or pending
- Audited financial statement from the previous year
- Copy of most recent annual report
- Copy of the nonprofit status exemption letter from the IRS
- List of the officers, board members and their affiliations
- Background statement on the executive director and key staff to be involved in the proposed project
- A list of other donors, including support from the United Way or similar federated funds corporations, `s and government sources
