A massive storm system consisting primarily of volatile winds and large damaging hail stretched across Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota August 18 and 19, 2011. The event resulted in damages to roofs, siding, decks, fences, glass and vehicles from downed trees and tree limbs, as well as hail. The areas of concentrated damages are as follows: Iowa counties of Pottawattamie, Mills and Fremont; Kansas counties of Shawnee, Jefferson and Johnson; Nebraska counties of Douglas and Washington; with minimal damages were reported in Missouri and South Dakota.
From June 24 through June 26, 2011, strong storms stretching across parts of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska brought high winds and hail to the area. Hail from 1 to 3 inches dropped mostly in South Dakota with winds up to 75 mph; hail from 1 to 2 inches fell in parts of Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska with winds up to 70 mph. The storm left behind wind and hail damages to roofs, siding, fences, decks, windows, wind shields, vehicle sheet-metal and appurtenant structures. Claims are widespread across all states with a concentration of claims in the South Dakota county of Pennington and the Missouri counties of St. Louis and St. Louis City.
