Catastrophes in New Jersey

Blizzard pummels New Jersey
2/12/10 8:00 PM

A blizzard pummels New Jersey starting February 5 and is expected to continue through February 14, 2010. The frigid temperatures have caused widespread freeze damages that include frozen and broken pipes and water damages. Additionally, ice encrusted trees and tree limbs have fallen on to roofs, decks and fences resulting in both structural and surface damages including partial collapse to homes and buildings. The heavy, wet snow piled up on roadways, toppled trees and left residents without electricity. Damages are being reported from across the state but are predominantly concentrated in the New Jersey counties of Monmouth, Ocean, Camden, Burlington, Middlesex and Cape May.
