Southwestern US drenched by strong storms

The weather system that has battered California since January 17 has pushed eastward impacting the southwest states of Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah January 19 through 22. The storm consists of strong winds, intense rain, dangerous sleet, and heavy snowfall. The resulting damages of this weather event are; flooded homes; collapsed roofs due to snow load; water damages due to leaky roofs; and damages resulting from the high winds. The areas with the most concentrated loss reports are: Clark County in Nevada; and the Arizona counties of Mohave, Yavapai, Maricopa, Pinal, Gila, Pima, Santa Cruz and Cochise.

Southwest US affected by strong storms

A strong low pressure system tore through the southern most tip of Nevada, across Arizona, where the impact is most substantial and into Southern New Mexico. This storm packed up to 60 MPH winds, which primarily damaged structures, roofs, siding and fences. Additionally, utility lines were downed resulting in scattered power outages. The counties primarily impacted are as follows: in Arizona - Maricopa, Yavapai, Cochise, Yuma, Pima, Gila and Pinal; in Nevada – Clark; in New Mexico – Lea, Otero, Eddy, Dona Ana, Curry, Torrance and Valencia.
