A storm system consisting of strong winds, rains and lightning swept through the Mid-Atlantic region from June 3 through June 5, 2008. This storm impacted Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and to a lesser degree Delaware and West Virginia. The fast moving storm battered Maryland with 60 MPH winds severely impacting the counties of Prince Georges, Montgomery, Washington, Frederick, Howard, Anne Arundel, Calvert and Charles. In Virginia the storm pounded the counties of Loudoun, Prince William and primarily Fairfax; specifically Alexandria City and the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The West Virginia counties chiefly affected are Harrison, Berkeley and Jefferson and in Delaware the counties of Sussex. The strong winds have downed trees and tree limbs on to buildings and power lines. Consequently there is widespread scattered damages to roofs, decks, fences and vehicles, as well as power outages across the region.
