Powerful slow-moving storm hits Eastern US

A powerful, slow-moving storm system consisting of strong winds (some straight-line), heavy rain, lightning, minimal hail and sewer back-up moved over Delaware, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia beginning May 11 and continuing into May 12, 2008. The resulting property damages range from primarily minor to moderate with a few substantial losses. Additionally, there have been reports of power outages. The counties most impacted are as follows: Maryland - Price Georges, Anne Arundel and Charles; Virginia - Fairfax and Prince William; and D.C.; scattered damages have been reported in West Virginia and Delaware.
Major storm hits Eastern US

A strong storm system swept through Virginia, Maryland and D.C. May 8 - 9, 2008.  This storm consisted of strong winds, some hail, heavy rain and two tornadoes. According to the National Weather Service the tornado produced 111 to 135 mph winds and caused some isolated severe damages. However, most of the losses are scattered property damages ranging from minimal to extensive in the hardest hit community of Fredericksburg, Virginia in Stafford County where some homes received severe damages as a result of a tornado touching down.
Tornado outbreak in Virginia; Washington D.C. and Maryland also impacted by storms

A severe weather outbreak April 27 through 29 in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. resulted in vehicle and property damages due to strong winds, flying debris, torrential rains, hail and three tornadoes. The wind speeds associated with the tornadoes in central and southeast Virginia ranged from 86 to 110 MPH. The city hardest hit by this storm system is Suffolk where two of the tornadoes touched down; specifically in Colonial Heights. A tornado also touched down in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Other Virginia cities primarily affected by this storm include Williamsburg and Portsmouth. Damage reports indicate losses ranging from minor, with a few shingles missing, to a few reports of major devastation. An Allstate Mobile Response Unit was deployed to Suffolk, VA to assist customers who have been impacted by these tornadoes. 
Storms lash Eastern United States

Strong storms lashed the Eastern U.S. as cold air from the northwest encountered warmer air from the south March 7 through March 9, 2008. The high winds with gusts up to 65 mph downed trees, tree limbs and power lines leaving thousands without power and scattered property damages across the region. The areas hardest impacted at this time include the Virginia counties of Fairfax, Hanover, Norfolk City and Prince William. Loss reports indicate primarily minor to moderate property damages to roofs, siding, fences, decks and porches.
Mid Atlantic states hit with strong cold front

A strong cold front consisting of heavy rain, violent thunderstorms and strong winds swept across the Mid Atlantic states March 3 – 5, 2008.  The high winds associated with this system downed trees, tree limbs and power lines causing widespread power outages in Virginia and also caused scattered property damages across the region.  The areas hardest impacted at this time include the Virginia counties of Wise, Fairfax and Spotsylvania.  Loss reports indicate primarily minor to moderate property damages to roofs, siding, fences, decks and porches.
