Storms pushed through the Northeast

Storms Pushed through New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine on September 14 and September 15, 2008.  This storm consisted of heavy rains, strong winds, some hail and lightning strikes.  As a result, trees and tree limbs fell onto homes, fences and decks, power lines were downed resulting in power outages and sewers backed up and overflowed into homes.
Tropical Storm Hanna hits the East Coast

After making landfall in North Carolina, Tropical Storm Hanna continued on its northeast track impacting the states of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont on September 6 and September 7, 2008. This storm consisted of heavy rains, strong winds, some hail, lightning strikes, and even tornadic activity.  As a result, trees and tree limbs fell onto homes, fences and decks, power lines were downed resulting in power outages and sewers backed up and overflowed into homes.  The areas with the highest concentration of damages were the Pennsylvania counties of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware and Lehigh and the Connecticut counties of Hartford, New Haven and Fairfield.  Properties in New York state also felt the impact of this tropical storm.
Southeast New York slammed with summer storm

Strong storms swept through Southeast New York on August 14 and August 15, 2008 consisting of high winds that toppled trees and power lines leaving thousands without electricity as well numerous lightning strikes.  Claims received thus far are concentrated in the New York counties of Westchester, Bronx, Nassau and Queens. 
Storm left damage across the Northeastern US

A storm system consisting of hail, heavy rains, winds and lightning hit the Northeast US from August 10 to August 12, 2008.  This storm caused minor to moderate wind and hail damage to homes and automobiles with a majority of the damage being from hail. These storms mainly impacted East and Southeast Pennsylvania in the counties of Lehigh, Franklin, York, Delaware and Chester.  In New York, the areas primarily impacted were the counties of Erie, Nassau, Rensselaer and Queens.  This storm system also caused scattered hail, wind and rain damages in the states of Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire where trees and tree limbs were downed on to homes, fence and decks; losses range from minor to moderate. 
Strong winds, hail and lightning affect residents in New York

A storm system consisting of strong winds, hail and multiple lightning strikes downed trees and tree limbs onto homes and ignited some home fires from July 26 to July 27, 2008. The areas hardest hit were in the counties of Suffolk, Oneida and Saratoga. Loss reports indicate damages primarily ranging from minor to moderate.
New York slammed with harsh weather

On July 23 and 24, 2008, a storm system consisting of heavy rains, possibly straight-line winds and lightning impacted residents in New York where losses are scattered and range primarily from minor to moderate. The New York counties with the highest concentration of losses are Monroe, Oneida, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau. Losses there appear to be chiefly the result of heavy rains allowing water inside the home via an opening, flooding and/or sewers and strong winds that downed trees on to homes, power lines, sheds, fences and decks.
