Catastrophes in Florida
Central Florida's Wildfire Raging
05/14/2008 4:00 CDT
Florida's drought conditions are contributing to wildfires that began burning in Volusia and Brevard Counties along the Central Florida East Coast May 10, 2008. Some homes in the communities of Palm Bay and Malabar have already succumbed to these wildfires, have been scorched by the intense heat, or are smoke damaged. Additionally, there are power outages resulting from downed power lines leaving thousands without electricity. A Mobile Response Unit was deployed to Palm Bay, Florida to assist impacted customers.
