Ida made landfall the morning of November 11, 2009 as a tropical storm near Mobile, Ala. Ida quickly weakened a few hours later, but did not lose its ability to drop drenching rain and strong winds. Soaking rain and strong winds from Ida spread into Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and DC. At this time, most of the claims are concentrated in the Virginia counties of Virginia Beach City, Chesapeake City, Newport News City and Norfolk City specifically the cities of Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Newport News.
