Allstate Catastrophe State Specific Information

A string of fast moving storms consisting of high winds, heavy rains, some hail and several tornadoes moved across Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi May 10 and May 11, 2008. As a result of this storm system there is widespread scattered property losses. However, there are some more concentrated areas, such as Stuttgart, Arkansas where an E-F3 tornado with wind speeds of 136 to 165 MPH damaged homes and businesses. Typically losses are due to downed trees, tree limbs and power lines; strong winds, tornadic activity and straight-line winds; sewer line backups, hail and lightning. Although losses are scattered widely across all these states, Tennessee has a greater concentration of losses with the highest number of reported losses in the Memphis area.

Storm system strikes Central and Southern US

A volatile storm system swept across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri May 1 through 3, 2008 resulting in scattered widespread damages ranging from minor to moderate with a few substantial losses. In Arkansas, the counties of Benton, Cleburne and Washington were the most impacted. The most severe damages occurred in the greater Little Rock communities of Benton, Bee Branch, Center Ridge, Damascus, Heber Springs, Hensley and Woodson where at least one tornado set down.

Central US hit with large hail and strong winds

Severe storms consisting of heavy rains, lightning strikes, strong wind gusts and large hail swept through Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennessee April 22 and April 23. This storm mainly impacted East Baton Rouge Parish in Louisiana where residents witnessed up to tennis ball sized hail. In addition, strong winds toppled power lines resulting in scattered minor to moderate damages with the majority of the losses to roofs. Vehicle loss reports indicate minor to moderate damages resulting from hail, flying debris, and falling trees and limbs.

Volatile storms sweep through central U.S.

A volatile line of storms in the central U.S. resulted in scattered property damages April 9 through 11. These storms produced up to baseball sized hail, torrential rains, heavy lightning and strong winds; including straight-line and tornadic winds. These storms impacted Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. Scattered property damages ranging from minor to moderate and in some instances severe have been reported throughout the region. The loss reports indicate heavy damages to roofs, siding, windows and interior water damages in Arkansas where the majority of the damages are at this time. The counties most severely impacted in Arkansas are Sebastian and Crawford; particularly the Fort Smith area.

Southern Plains hammered by severe storms

An active storm system moved into the Southern Plains April 3 and April 4 impacting the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky. The severe weather included large hail, high winds, heavy rains, lightning and some tornadic activity, which caused severe damages to properties in the southwest and downtown areas of Little Rock, Arkansas. Although Arkansas’ Pulaski County took the brunt of the storm system, Saline and Lonoke counties also felt its punch; Hurricane Lake Estates and Hurricane Meadows Subdivision both had substantial damages.

Hailstorms push through the Southern US

A storm system consisting of large damaging hail, high winds and lightning buffeted the northern portion of Arkansas March 30 through April 1. The hail shattered windows and dented house siding and vehicle sheet metal across Arkansas. Property and auto damage is primarily being reported in the Arkansas county of Miller.

Hail storm hits the Southern U.S.

A powerful line of storms moved across the country impacting Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky March 18 through 19, 2008. This storm system consisted of straight line winds, hail and lightning. Loss reports indicate primarily minor to moderate wind and hail damages to roofs. Additionally, there are property damages resulting from lightning strikes.

Volatile storm system sweeps through South Central US

A volatile storm system consisting of intense thunderstorms, damaging winds and heavy rain caused scattered property and vehicle damages across Tennessee’s west and northwest region, Western Mississippi, Central Louisiana, North Central Kentucky and Central Arkansas March 3 and 4, 2008. Although there are some reports of severe damages, most are primarily minor to moderate losses to roofs, siding, fences, decks and vehicles.
