An unstable air mass moves through the Southeast

An unstable air mass and low level wind shear made its way across Alabama from Sumter to Jackson Counties and resulted in scattered property damages. In Georgia the system consisted of heavy rain and strong winds primarily impacting the Greater Atlanta area, as well as Richmond County. In South Carolina the damages were scattered across the state, with Sumter County being the hardest hit; and in North Carolina  some losses have been reported in almost every county, but the counties hardest hit are Wilson and Iredell.
The Tea Wildfire in California

The Tea Wildfire erupted in Santa Barbara County, California November 13 and continues to rage out of control.  This fire has burned 2500 acres and over 100 structures.  The city of Montecito is the community most impacted, with mandatory evacuations already issued by the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Services.
A strong storm front moves across Southwest

A strong storm front consisting of strong winds and hail moved across the state of Oklahoma  on November 5 and 6, 2008. Most of the claims are concentrated in Canadian, Cleveland, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie County.  Consequently, properties and automobiles throughout these states were damaged mostly by dime to quarter sized hail as well as strong winds, blowing debris, downed trees and tree limbs.
Thunderstorm downed trees and power lines in the Southeast

A thunderstorm consisting of powerful winds downed trees and power lines primarily in Northern Georgia.  Power was knocked out to thousands throughout Augusta area:  Richmond County, Columbia County, Aiken, Barnwell  and Saluda counties.  In South Carolina customers were without power across the central portion of the state due to high winds and showers; primarily affecting the counties of Chester and Lexington.  In North Carolina the storm system brought rains and winds to 34 mph.  The storm system minimally impacted Alabama.
High winds and wildfires impacted the Southern California

High winds and wildfires impacted the Southern California counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and San Diego.  These fires are referred to as the Shockey Fire in San Diego which is affecting the area near Shockey Truck Trail and Highway, 94;  the Sesnon Fire, which is affecting Brows Canyon and Oat Mountain Way, Porter Ranch; the Marek Fire, which is affecting the West Side Little Canyon; and the Juliet Fire, which is affecting the southwest portion of Camp Pendleton Marine Base.  These fires comprise of about 15,000 acres that have already burned.
