Heavy rains throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan area, including Northwest Indiana, shut down roads, grounded flights and flooded basements Saturday, September 13 through September 14, 2008. Three to seven inches of rain fell across the Chicago area. Primarily the counties affected in
Illinois are Cook, Kane, Will and Lake. This storm system also impacted
Indiana,
Ohio and
Michigan with very strong winds that downed trees and tree limbs onto homes, fences, decks, and damaged roofing materials. The areas hardest impacted in Ohio are Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and the Southern Indiana Counties of Clark, Floyd and Harrison.
