High winds and wildfires impacted the Southern California

High winds and wildfires impacted the Southern California counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and San Diego.  These fires are referred to as the Shockey Fire in San Diego which is affecting the area near Shockey Truck Trail and Highway, 94;  the Sesnon Fire, which is affecting Brows Canyon and Oat Mountain Way, Porter Ranch; the Marek Fire, which is affecting the West Side Little Canyon; and the Juliet Fire, which is affecting the southwest portion of Camp Pendleton Marine Base.  These fires comprise of about 15,000 acres that have already burned.
Heavy Rains throughout the Midwest and North Central US

Heavy rains throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan area, including Northwest Indiana, shut down roads, grounded flights and flooded basements Saturday, September 13 through September 14, 2008.  Three to seven inches of rain fell across the Chicago area.  Primarily the counties affected in Illinois are Cook, Kane, Will and Lake.  This storm system also impacted IndianaOhio and Michigan with very strong winds that downed trees and tree limbs onto homes, fences, decks, and damaged roofing materials.  The areas hardest impacted in Ohio are Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and the Southern Indiana Counties of Clark, Floyd and Harrison.
Ike roared inland in Texas as strong Category Two Hurricane

Hurricane Ike impacted TexasLouisianaMississippiArkansasKentucky and Tennessee with its strong winds, heavy rains and storm surges.  With maximum sustained winds near 105 mph, with higher gusts, at landfall, it caused widespread scattered damages from Texas up through the Tennessee Valley.  Mobile Response Units  were deployed to assist customers who have been impacted.
Tropical Storm Hanna hits the East Coast

Tropical Storm Hanna made landfall along the South Carolina and North Carolina  coastal border continued it's trek upward through VirginiaMarylandDCDelawareWest VirginiaPennsylvaniaConnecticutRhode IslandMaineNew Hampshire and Vermont on September 6 and September 7, 2008. Properties in New York state also felt the impact of this tropical storm.. Hanna also had an impact on Georgia.  This tropical system produced rotating bands of heavy rain and tropical storm-force gusts. Mobile Response Units have been deployed to assist policyholders who were impacted by Hanna.
Hurricane Gustav makes landfall

The center of Gustav made landfall along the Louisiana coast near Cocodrie about 9:30 am CDT with maximum sustained winds of 110 m.p.h. on September 1, 2008.  Damage reports near the storm’s landfall in Houma, Louisiana have indicated extensive wind damage. Thousands of homes sustained roof and window damage, while thousands of trees were uprooted. Gustav not only affected Louisiana, but it also affected AlabamaMississippiArkansas and Texas. The remnants of Gustav headed northward resulting in heavy rains and strong winds in Illinois. Property losses are scattered throughout the state and primarily resulted in minor to moderate damages.Mobile Response Units were deployed to assist customers who were impacted by Hurricane Gustav.
Texas hit with large storm

A line of thunderstorms moved through the entire state of Texas August 18 through August 21, 2008.  This storm consisted of heavy rain and strong winds that resulted in downed trees and power lines as well as flooding.
Southeast New York slammed with summer storm

Strong storms swept through Southeast New York on August 14 and August 15, 2008 consisting of high winds that toppled trees and power lines leaving thousands without electricity as well numerous lightning strikes.
Tropical Storm Fay Wreaks Havoc in Florida

Tropical Storm Fay, which made its first landfall on August 18, 2008  has impacted many Florida residents, and has the potential to continue doing so.  Minor to moderate property and auto damages have been reported as a result of this tropical system.  Mobile Response Units were deployed to the impacted area to assist customers affected by Tropical Storm Fay.
Strong storms blow through New Mexico

Central New Mexico experienced a strong storm system consisting of very strong winds, golf ball sized hail, and violent thunderstorms on August 16 and August 17, 2008.
Storm left damage across the Northeastern US

A storm system consisting of hail, heavy rains, winds and lightning hit New YorkPennsylvaniaVermontMaineRhode IslandConnecticut and New Hampshire from August 10 to August 12, 2008.  This storm caused minor to moderate wind and hail damage to homes and automobiles with a majority of the damage being from hail.

North Central and Midwestern US gets slammed with severe thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms roared across IndianaMichiganOhioIllinoisMinnesota and Wisconsin August 4 and 5, 2008 causing moderate property damage and leaving thousands of homes and businesses without power in the area. Mobile Response Units were deployed to the impacted area to assist customers.

At 11:42 AM Pacific Time July 29, 2008, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake rattled the Los Angeles, California metropolitan area. Experts in earthquake studies called this a small to moderate quake.
Large hail pounds Ohio

A storm system consisting chiefly of large hail resulted in isolated property damages in northeast Ohio from July 26 to July 27, 2008.
Strong winds, hail and lightning affect residents in New York

Wildfires out of control in Southern California

The Telegraph Wildfire in Mariposa County, California are threatening several communities in California. Some residences and out-buildings have already succumbed to the flames, and more are expected. An Allstate Mobile Response Unit has been deployed to Mariposa, CA.  The National Catastrophe Team is closely monitoring this situation.

On July 23 and 24, 2008, a storm system consisting of heavy rains, possibly straight-line winds and/or a tornado and lightning severely impacted New Hampshire where the governor declared a state of emergency. PennsylvaniaVermontMaineRhode Island and Connecticut were also affected.

Thousands of homes and businesses remained without power Thursday morning after thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, strong winds and frequent lightning swept across Michigan's Lower Peninsula and Ohio's northern counties beginning July 2 and continuing into, July 3, 2008.  Minimal damage was reported in Indiana.
