Little Bit of History

The state of Rhode Island encompasses 1,545 square miles and is ranked 50th in the nation's total area. It was the 13th state to enter the union on May 29, 1790. Rhode Island was named by Adriaen Block specifically Roodt Eylandt meaning Red Island due to the red clay that lined the shore.
