Little Bit of History

The state of North Dakota encompasses 70,762 square miles and is ranked 19th in the nation's total area. It was the 39th state to enter the union on November 2, 1889. North Dakota was named after the Dakota Indian tribe, and it is Sioux word meaning friends or allies.
