Little Bit of History

The state of Maine encompasses 33,414 square miles and is ranked 39th in the nation's total area. It was the 23rd state to enter the union on March 15, 1820. The origin of the state name is unidentified; one possibility is the name was derived after the ancient French province of Maine.
