Little Bit of History

The state of Kentucky encompasses 40,444 square miles and is ranked 37th in the nation's total area. It was the 15th state to enter the union on June 1, 1792. Kentucky's name has never been definitively identified. The most likely etymology is that it comes from an Iroquoian word for meadow or prairie.
