Little Bit of History

The state of Kansas encompasses 82,277 square miles and is ranked 15th in the nation's total area. It was the 34th state to enter the union on January 29, 1861. Kansas was named after the Kansa tribe, who inhabited the area. The tribe's name is often said to mean people of the wind or people of the south wind.
