Little Bit of History

The state of Illinois encompasses 57,918 square miles and is ranked 25th in the nation's total area. It was the 21st state to enter the union, joining the United States on December 3, 1818. The origin of the name Illinois is often associated with the Illiniwek people who were part of the Algonquian tribes.
