Little Bit of History

The state of Alaska encompasses 663,267 square miles and is ranked 1st in the nation's total area. It was the 49th state to enter the union on January 3, 1959. Alaska was named by the Aleut alaxsxaq, meaning the mainland, introduced during the Russian colonial times.
