A day in the Life

Welcome to a Day in the Life of a Software Developer

Meet Mark

Mark has worked for Allstate Northern Ireland since 2007 as a Software Developer after graduating from the University of Ulster and Newcastle University in Computer Science.

"My friend mentioned that Allstate NI was recruiting graduates and after researching the company online it looked like a great place to work, so I applied and have been here ever since. I enjoy it because the work is so varied, from developing and maintaining a service catalogue primarily in JavaScript to learning new skills with the HP Operations Orchestration tool. Over the past year or so I have been involved in a large team that successfully automates the process of provisioning virtual servers, cutting down the time for build from weeks to hours, whilst saving thousands of dollars per month.

In a company of this size there is also a great career path and I hope to progress within Allstate NI in the future. The flexible working is also a great benefit; I'm a night time person so being able to come into work for 10am and get that extra hour in bed is a great benefit!"
