A Day in the Life

Welcome to A Day in the Life of a Java Developer

Meet John Paul Mullan

John Paul or JP as he likes to be called started working as a Software Developer in Allstate Northern Ireland in 2004 through the Bridge to Employment IT programme after completing some contract work after graduating from Queen's University with a BSc Hons in Computer Science.

He works on the Alliance Maintenance Team which deals with what is passed to and from Java applications for Alliance transactions. JP was recently the lead designer, coder and tester of the logic for SBO for Auto in Alliance which was a great success.

JP is a huge contributor to Allstate NI Sports & Social committees, managing the Gaelic team, organising the Dodgeball team and indoor hockey at a local leisure centre. He also volunteers for Allstate NI's XtheTXT Don't Text & Drive campaign as well as other charity events throughout the year.

"I love the diversity that working at Allstate Northern Ireland brings, it's not just a job, you can get involved with a wide range of activities. I'm passionate about Gaelic Football and have managed the Allstate NI team over the past number of years, a great way of getting to know people and of keeping fit. I'm also fortunate to have met my future wife at Allstate, Monika and we recently got married on the 4th May in Poland." - John Paul
