Cool FM DJs take part in the Northern Ireland X the TXT Challenge
After receiving a pair of thumb bands that read "TXTING KILLS" from Allstate Northern Ireland, the Cool FM DJs took part in a driving simulation, where they were asked to try and text a message while driving. All 3 Cool FM DJs experienced problems while trying to text and drive in the simulator; by veering out of lanes, not paying attention to what was in front of them and finally crashing, highlighting how distracting it is to text and drive.
Allstate Northern Ireland started the X the TXT campaign earlier this year and takes the campaign to 16-18 year olds in schools and college to raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving as well as the legal implications. "The key objective of the campaign is to inform and educate students approaching driving age that text messaging is a significant distraction to the serious business of driving with potentially fatal consequences," explained Rose Kelly, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Allstate NI.
