Allstate Northern Ireland raises over £30,000 for Charities

Football tournaments, the Belfast Marathon, a sponsored cycle race, prize draws and donut sales are just some of the activities in which Allstate Northern Ireland employees participated to raise money for their selected charities in the past year.

At the start of each year employees are asked to complete a survey to find out which charities they want to support and the following charities were chosen: Help the Aged, Cancer Research UK, Cancer Fund for Children, Chest Heart and Stroke and the Ulster Wildlife Trust. As well as supporting these charities, employees also provide contributions through the "Give as you Earn" scheme, donating a percentage of their salary to charity on a monthly basis.

Through the fundraising by employees and the hard work and dedication of the company's Charity Committee, £11,500 was raised for the company's chosen charities, with an additional 15% donated by the company's US parent company. This led to a donation of £2,300 for each of the 5 charities. A further £18,705 was raised through the "Give as you Earn" scheme which is donated to individual charities that the employees select.

Bro McFerran, Managing Director at Allstate Northern Ireland said, "I would like to thank all of our employees who have taken part in our fundraising efforts, every year they always think of new ways to raise money for their chosen charities and are relentless in their enthusiasm and commitment. I take great pride in the knowledge that our employees contribute so much to both the local community and to wider UK charities, not only do they provide donations but they also donate via their time and skills. I know that they will continue to do this in 2009."
